Raf’s Rescues opened its doors in February 2026 in Broward County, South Florida, after our founder spent three years fostering overflow dogs and cats for shelters that had run out of kennel space. We’re open to animals of every kind, but our daily work — and our fastest-growing waitlist — is dogs and cats.
Our story
Rafael “Raf” Delgado grew up in Broward County and spent years driving strays to already-full shelters across the county. In 2026 he registered Raf’s Rescues so those animals would have somewhere to actually land — a foster-based network instead of another waitlist. Six months in, that network covers Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, Davie, and everywhere in between.
Our approach
Every animal we take in goes straight into a foster home — we don’t operate a shelter building, so there are no cages and no kennel stress. Vetting, spay/neuter, and vaccines happen before adoption, and our prevention program works to keep the next litter from ever needing us.
Where we work. Broward County, South Florida — Fort Lauderdale to Pembroke Pines and everywhere between.
Who we are. A volunteer-run 2026 nonprofit — no paid staff, every dollar raised goes to vet care, food, and foster supplies.
Who we help. Dogs and cats first, with an open door for any animal in Broward that has nowhere else to go.
